M4 for MODAF
M4 combines the rigour and discipline of MODAF with the usability, flexibility and flexibility of Salamander’s MooD software.
M4 allows users to exploit the MOD Architectural Framework (MODAF) and offers invaluable assistance in bringing coherence to complex endeavours by providing common language and formats for the capture and shared use of trusted data.
MODAF is designed to meet the business and operational needs of communities within the MOD for building and sharing a common understanding of the enterprise to support communication and decision making at all levels. It provides a highly accessible way of describing, or modelling, the enterprise. Different user communities can focus on their specific areas of interests at the right levels - with the confidence that these perspectives are synchronized within a common, joined-up view of the whole.
Working with the MOD, Salamander has produced a MooD® Blueprint that supports the views and modelling constructs described in MODAF. This is called M4 - 'MoDAF Methodology Managed in MooD'. MooD has been declared by the MOD to be ‘MODAF convergent’ and is therefore approved for immediate use for business and capability modelling with MODAF. MODAF comprises three kinds of components. M4 aligns with these as:
- M4 for MODAF Views provide multiple user perspectives
- M4 for MODAF Meta-Model provide structure and integrity
- M4 for MODAF Ontologies capture a range of endorsed Defence standards
